Bobbi Brown - Holiday Collection 2010

On my last visit to my local Bobbi Brown counter, I spotted few palettes from their Holiday Collection. They all look amazing!

Modern Classic Lip & Eye Palette by Bobbi Brown is perfect for your handbag. It contains 10 beautiful eye colours that range from grays, bronzes and plums that can be used on natural looks or for a dramatic smoky eye. It also contains four beautiful lip colours that match the shades.

Bobbi Brown Day to Night Eye Palettes contains a mix and match selection of matte & shimmery eye colours
specially designed for you to create natural looks for the day and then spicy it up your look at night.

For me, one of the best palettes from the Collection is Mini Bobbi Brights Palette.

It is great to see such a fun palette in their collection, as the majority of their products are neutral & natural looking.

I think the colours are beautiful and likewise all shadows made by Bobbi Brown, their are designed to work with all completions. You can use them as shadows or as an eyeliner, if you use a wet brush.

I guess the only downside is the price. In America it costs $70 (over here €95) and the shadows are really tiny - I guess they are the size of a 1 cent coin.

So, what you think about these palettes? Would you be getting anything nice from Bobbi Brown's Holiday Collection?

Giveaway Winner!

This post is to thank everyone who entered my giveaway.

The lucky winner is Wanda Bergman!

You will be contacted shortly by CSN stores with your voucher of $35 to spend in any of their 200 stores!

Congratulations!

12 Week Blow Dry Update and Review

I feel terrible for not blogging about this any sooner. I lost my before picture and had to find an older picture that could show how my hair was before the procedure.

This before picture is a quite old one. Back on that time, my hair was quite nourished. I have to say that on the day I had London Blow Dry done, my hair looked 100 times worse than the picture below.

If you are new to my blog, I'd recommend to read my first post about the 12 Week Blow Dry

Anyways, here it goes:

Close Up Picture - After & Before London Blow Dry Treatment

The whole treatment is so easy that you nearly can do it yourself. Although I would strongly recommend a professional hairdresser to ensure everything is done correctly.

The treatment kit consists in one 500ml deep cleaning shampoo + one 1000ml spray treatment. This is enough for 20-28 treatments (depending on size of hair, how thick it is, etc...) and it costs more or less €500. This is a professional kit.

I wouldn't recommend to purchase it for personal use as 1 London Blow Dry Kit would provide over 6 years of treatments for 1 person?! This product is only valid for 2 years and each treatment lasts more or less 3 months, depending on how's your hair and how you look after it.

So, I would recommend to ask your local hairdresser what type of "12 week blow dry" they use.

The product I used is called "London The Number 1 - London Treatment by Paris Hilton". To be honest, I am unsure whether Paris Hilton actually has anything to do with the brand.

If you want to get in touch with them, they have a free call phone 0800 804 7111 printed on the bottle, and their email address is contato@london.com. They also have an address in Lisbon, Portugal.

Step by Step

1 – Shampoo your hair twice with the Shampoo Express London, using warm water. Just wash your hair as you normally do. Towel dry your hair and apply for the third time the same shampoo onto your hair, but leave the shampoo for 20 min before rinsing it off.

2 – After rinsing your hair, use a hair drier to dry your hair 100%

3 – Separate your hair in 4 sections.

4 - Start at the lower section,  and start spritzing Express London Spray applying from roots to ends. Brush your hair to ensure the product is properly applied to the whole length. Hair should be soaking wet with the treatment.

5 – After applying the product to this lower section, blow dry this part with cold air for 2 minutes. After two minutes, use VERY hot air to activate the product. Perform a straight blow dry, separating the hair into very small sections. It is very important that this part is done perfectly and very slowly.

6 – Use a hair straightener right away; 12-15 times on each section very slowly. Your hair should be extra hot. The more you use the straightener, the straighter your hair will be after you wash your hair for the first time.

7- Repeat all steps in all other 3 large sections you separated earlier until you reach the front part of your hair.

Notes:
  • Pay extra attention to roots & sides of your hair. Those are the most difficult areas to perform the treatment.
  • Ideal temperature of the hair straightener is 200 C to 220 C. Hair straighteners that only reach 180 C do not guarantee an effective result.
  • Never use cold water during the process
  • To maintain the treatment, you should wash your hair with a shampoo and conditioner that do not contain salt or with shampoos/conditioners suitable for coloured hair.
  • Do not use deep clean treatments or anti dandruff products
  • This whole process usually takes more or less 2 hours to complete.
Overall, I love this treatment, since I've done it for the first time. I'll keep doing it until I find something better!

Your hair looks so healthy and shiny that you won't believe! Also, you can say goodbye to frizzy hair, even when it's raining.
Hair After

I don't even need to use a hair drier whenever I do this treatment. I simply let my hair dry naturally and it looks awesome, as if I had styled it. If I use a hair drier, my hair looks even better and more shiny. There's no need to use hair straighteners at all.

I wash my hair everyday, sometimes twice a day. For this reason, I feel the treatment only lasts perfectly for 4-8 weeks, but my hair still looks very nourished for a lot longer.

I have been using The Body Shop Bilberry Shampoo and Conditioner to look after my hair. I don't feel the need to use any other product (no serums, no sprays, no mousse, no masks, no leave in) to manage or treat my hair.

Hope this post was helpful to some of you!

Let me know if you have any more questions. And please do not forget to check my first post about the 12 week blow dry

Have a great day!

Clinique High Impact Curling Mascara Before and After

Hey girls!

Today I am reviewing Clinique High Impact Curling Mascara. I got this a while ago and have been testing it out for a number of weeks.

I am very impressed by how much volume it gives to the lashes! I love volumized lashes effect that still looks extremely natural.

Pros:
- It lasts all day
- It gives lots of volume
- It doesn't flake
- It doesn't give you "Panda Eyes"
- It curls lashes
- It looks natural
- Stays put
- It's not clumpy

Cons:
- It is hard to remove

I guess the only downside of this mascara is that it is not very easy to remove. It feels like you are trying to remove a waterproof mascara, although I am not too sure whether this mascara is waterproof or not.

I have tried to clean my eyes with eye make up removers from several brands: Estee Lauder, The Body Shop, ROC, Olay & MAC cleanse off oil and I got the same result... I had to apply the eye make up remover several times and it takes sometime to remove it 100%. I don't know if a Clinique Eye Make Up Remover would make a difference. Good thing this indicates that it will stay put on your lashes until you clean it off.

Despite this fact, I really love the effect and  it is now on my favourites list.

So what you girls think? Doesn't it look great?

Have you ever tried this mascara before? What are your thoughts?

Solo Make Up

I don't like to write about brands I haven't tried yet, but SOLO is an exception.

I have been watching their You Tube Chanel for a while, and on their videos, their products just seem to be so amazing!

SOLO is a small Irish based company. All of their products are reasonably priced and they also ship worldwide first class delivery for just €2.40/$3.00. SOLO has an online store and there are a couple of salons in Ireland that have their products available as well.

I think what makes SOLO so special is the fact that their products are made from high quality ingredients, they are packed full of pigments and have a reasonable price. They also claim that all of their products have an excellent staying power - they will not fade, crease or streak

SOLO have recently added foundations to their line, they contain an SPF18 and come in a variety of shades. The foundations are full coverage and will cover and conceal any type of flaw and blemish.

I am very curious about this brand. I guess I will end up placing an order just to see what they are like...

If you ever tried this brand, I'd love to hear about your experience!

Beauty Swap Haul

Hi beautiful girls! Hope you are all doing well! Today I'm just going to show you all some goodies I got for my sister-in-law!

I have four sister in laws and they are all into cosmetics and beauty products, like me. One of them is really into nail polishes and we often do swaps. She's actually the one who inspired me to start this blog.

Few months ago, she asked me to send her some unconventional nail polishes, but I knew nothing about it! I didn't know which brand was good, or what was considered a "cool" nail varnish. As I started doing some "research" on the subject, I found some awesome nail blogs (The Daily Nail, Lacquerized, The Lacquer Files, Nailoholic) that really inspired me to start doing my nails, post pictures and share my experiences. Well, my first post was about a nail polish!

I figure it would be cool to post here a picture of what I am sending her this month.

I own most of the things I am sending, so if you want to see a swatch of anything, just let me know!

Estee Lauder Sumptuous Bold Volume Lifting Mascara - Before and After

Estee Lauder sumptuous Volume Lifting Mascara - Before and After Picture

I truly love Estee Lauder products, but if I am being honest, I have to say that I am not mad about their mascaras. I was quite impressed by the staying power of their Double Wear Zero Smudge Mascara, but I just wish it gave my lashes a bit more volume!

This mascara claims to lift each lash with bold, weightless volume. I don't agree...

Positive points:
- It lasts all day
- It doesn't flake
- It gives you lenght
- It looks extremely natural
- Separates lashes
- Adds a nice curl

Negative points:
- I don't think it gives you as much volume as it claims.
- RRP

Dove Visible Effects

Dove Visible Effects is a brand new premium moisturising range with two new products - a body lotion and hand cream.

Each of the products in the range feature a breakthrough formula – a patented Multi-Layer Complex featuring a combination of powerful moisturising ingredients to deliver a visible improvement of skin. The launch is the most significant formulation advancement in recent Unilever history, delivering a superior product range that is truly unique.

So, what's different about Dove Visible Effects?

Dove Visible Effects is the only Dove moisturising range to feature the patented Multi-Layer Complex, which suspends and infuses moisture at all levels of the skin to deliver a superior moisturising experience.

The range combines three powerful moisturising ingredients: Glycerol Quat, a Unilever patented humectant to hold moisture at the surface of the skin; Glycerin, which easily penetrates skin for immediate and long lasting moisture; and HEU, which penetrates more deeply into the skin. The result – up to five times more moisture than leading everyday body lotions.

Unlike other moisturisers, the patented Glycerol Quat provides superior moisturisation without the sticky/greasy feeling that is associated with high glycerin levels. The result is a moisturiser that offers supreme moisturisation, but also feels fantastic on the skin.

I haven't tried these products yet, but they sound great, don't they? I am a big fan of Dove products - they offer quality and great value for money. I'll probably get something from the range on my next trip to Boots!

What about you? Have you tried anything from this range?

Moisture High For The Very Dry

The Body Shop Hemp range re-launch

Whether your skin has been ravaged by the elements or feels slightly tight and dry, now is the time to nurture it. Dry skin can benefit from hemp seed oil, so the original, natural and ethical beauty brand The Body Shop is here to revive your skin with the cult-status Hemp body range – and it’s now even better than ever!

The new dermatologically tested Hemp collection features Community Trade hemp seed oil and new innovative products, delivering extreme moisture to even very dry skin. Get your hands on the new Hemp Moisture High Balm, a special edition, multipurpose balm that can be used on any area prone to dryness, such as elbows and knees, which comes in a handy-sized tin.

Exposure to the sun, wind and rain can affect skin’s natural moisture balance, leading to tight, dry skin and rough or flaky patches. High in Omega 3 and one of the richest plant sources of essential fatty acids, hemp seed oil helps to smooth and restore dry skin, leaving it feeling softer and more moisturised.

This hardworking oil has been used in the Hemp products to help keep dryness away, by forming a protective layer on the skin to help limit future moisture loss and improve skin resilience.

In addition to five intensive moisturising treatments, the new Hemp range now includes a Moisturising Wash for use in the shower or bath, so you can begin your dry skin regime as you cleanse. The collection also features the new special edition multi-purpose Moisture High Balm, a balm to help soothe and soften areas prone to dryness, which has been dermatologically tested.

Keep it with you at all times!

Gosh Gold

Gosh Gold - 2 coats
After discovering Gosh Frou-Frou, I felt in love with it and thought that all Gosh metallic shades would perform the same.

This type of metallic nail polish dries quick, doesn't bubble up, it's easy to apply and it's super sparkly.

Gosh Gold
I just have quite mixed feelings about this colour, though... it looks very green for my taste. I don't think it suits me.

Gosh Gold close-up
I decided to apply some Rimmel Matte Top Coat just for fun and see what kind of finish I would get. Oh boy, how do I regret it!! I didn't like it at all!

Gosh Gold - 2 coats + Rimmel Mattifying Top Coat
This manicure didn't last long. Only 2 days. Nail polish started to chip. :(

Overall I would say I don't think I would re purchase this colour. I guess I prefer Essence Gold Rush.

What about you? Which one do you think is prettier?

The Body Shop Double Intensity Mascara - Before and After

The Body Shop Double Intensity Mascara - Before and After Picture

The Body Shop Double Intensity Mascara can give you amazing volume - as if you were wearing false lashes!

You just need to be careful and not apply too much, so it doesn't look clumpy. Overall it is a great mascara and I would wear it very often.

Positive Points:

- It lasts all day
- It doesn't smudge
- It doesn't flake
- It doesn't give you panda eyes
- It gives you lenght
- It gives you AMAZING volume
- Easy to remove

Negative points

- You may need to use a comb to separate lashes

This is a double-side mascara. You need to apply the white primer first and apply the second black coat after.

I prefer The Body Shop Super Volume on a daily basis as I can be lazy and not add a second step when doing my lashes (primer + mascara).

Have you ever tried any mascara duos? Which ones are your favourites?

Lush It Started with a Kiss Lip Tint Review

If you are looking for a lip balm that will really moisturizes your lips and that tastes good, have a look in your local Lush shop. They have a variety of lip balms that are awesome!

I have been using It started with a Kiss and I am in love with its scent - a mixture of cinnamon, chocolate and vanilla. I just feel the urge to re-apply it all the time! It also add a sutle orange-redish tint to your lips.

It started with a Kiss Lush Lip Tint
Although I really like the product, I would prefer if it came as lipstick bullet, I feel it would be much easier to apply. The fact the product adds some tint to your lips, it will also add some colour to the tip of your finger. This is only inconvenient when you don't have anywhere to wipe your fingers or if you don't use a lip brush.

It Started with a Kiss makes a perfect base for lipsticks and lip glosses and I feel it prolongs their colour too.

It is worth to mention that you barely feel it's there. There's no sticky feeling!

I haven't tried Honey Trap (clear) or Double Choc or Whipstick, but they all sound delicious! They are all available at Lush's Website for only £4.95.

Have you tried any of Lush's lip balms? What are your thoughts?

Clinique Repairwear Laser Focus Wrinkle & UV Damage Corrector Update

Clinique Repairware Laser Focus Before and After (4 weeks)
Hi Everyone!

Early in September I got Clinique's Repairware Laser Focus Wrinkle & UV Damage Corrector and I thought it is time to post an update on the treatment.

I have been using it for a while and I really like it. Texture is very light weighted and the product sinks in very easily onto the skin. You just need 3 drops twice a day, morning and night, in conjunction with your regular skincare regime.

The picture above shows improvements after 4 weeks of usage. The image might take a while to download as I left it on its original size, so you can see all details and my horrible wrinkles.

I feel my skin condition has improved, although I am not too impressed with results yet. My skin feels brighter and softer. It did help a little with the fine lines. I believe I will be able to achieve better results after 12 weeks.
I will keep you all posted!

Let me know if you also use Clinique Repairwear Laser Focus. I would love to hear from your and what kind of results you were able to achieve!

Gosh Frou-Frou Nail

2 coats of Gosh Frou-Frou, no top coat

My nails are short at the moment, had an accident with one of the nails when trying to open a NYX eyeshadow palette... Anyways, although nails are quite short nail polish still looks great!

I am in love with Gosh Nail Polishes! Frou-Frou looks so pretty!!

It was so easy to apply, dries quickly, it is super shiny, easy to clean up and it lasts for ages! What else can we ask for?

I didn't need to apply a top coat and after 5 days it was still looking perfect. The only reason why I removed it was because I wanted to use a different colour.

There was no chipping, no cracking.

I'd give a 10 in 10 to this polish!

Isn't this colour just adorable?

Duty Free Mini Haul!

In one of my last trips this month I had to stop at the Duty Free to get some goodies.
Victoria Secrets Luscious Kisses Body Mist and Sexy Little Things Noir Solid Perfume
These two were actually a gift from a friend that was travelling with me. While I was busy at MAC counter getting her one of the Mineralize shadows from the Venomous Villains Collection, she got those two for me as a gift. Isn't she just the best friend ever?

While we were away, she let me use this solid perfume and I simply fell in love with it. It is brilliant to bring along when you are travelling and it lasts quite long on the skin. Not to mention the fragrance which is to die for... I'm so happy that she got me one too!

I simple ADORE Victoria Secrets. I used to use Victoria Secrets Body Mists and Lotions all the time, but as they are not available in Ireland, I have to wait for when I travel overseas to get my hands in one.

MAC Cleanse off oil, MAC Nail Lacquer in Bad Fairy and Formidable, MAC Mineralize Shadow in She Who Dares
You all know I have been dying to get my hands in this Collection. Too bad they were sold out of most of the stuff... so I had to content myself with those little treats.

MAC Cleanse off oil is one of the best make up removers I ever used, so I just got an extra one as a backup. All other products are from the Venomous Villains Collection.
MAC Who She Dares - MAC Venomous Villains Collection

Swatch of Who She Dares MAC Mineralize Eyeshadow

One sweep on the back of my hand, no primer
As I will be travelling quite a lot up to the end of October, I'll see if I can get my hands in more goodies from the MAC Collection. Of course I'll post pictures of it if I'm successful!

Thanks for stopping by and I wish you all a great day!

MAC Zoom Lash - Before and After

MAC Zoom Lash in Zoomblack - Before and After Picture

MAC Zoom Lash Mascara in Black (Zoomblack) gives an instant length and curls up your eyelashes. I use this mascara quite often, when I'm looking for a more natural look and not too much volume.

Positive points:

- it lasts all day
- it gives good volume
- it's a true black
- it doesn't flake
- it washes away easily

Negative points:

- RRP. I find it expensive
- I don't think it gives enough lenght when comparing to other mascaras
- I find the brush a little bit difficult to use, specially on the lower lashes
- It takes a bit longer to dry and I often get dark spots around my eyes when I'm in a hurry and not too careful.

Nourish your Body - Top 3 Best Body Moisturizers for Winter

Winter is coming and I have already started to prepare a stash of goodness for my skin.

Cold weather can make your skin suffer and nothing worse than dry, flaky skin!

If you are unsure of what to get, I have selected the top three body moisturizers for very dry skin in my opinion. Want to know what are my picks?

Lush King of Skin Body Butter

Don't judge this little bar by its size. This small bar can rescue your skin and leave it soft and well moisturized during the cold weather. Simply massage the bar into your skin, straight after your shower, while your skin is still a little bit wet. I have done a review on this product before, so click here if you'd like to know a bit more about it.
The Body Shop Cocoa Butter Body Butter

The Body Shop has a huge yummy selection of body butters packed with naturally sourced ingredients.

In my opinion, Cocoa Butter Body Butter is one of their best moisturizers for very dry skin. It will leave your skin with a gorgeous scent of cocoa beans and regular use will improve skin elasticity which can also prevent stretch marks. This body butter is very creamy and will protect your skin for 24 hours.

Dove pro.age Body Butter

Dove pro.age range not only will restore skin moisture, but also help with lines and wrinkles. For even more nourishment and a boost of their active ingredients, you can apply Dove pro.age serum first and Dove pro.age body butter on top.

The scent of this body butter is simply marvellous and will keep your skin looking its best throughout winter time.

I'd love to hear what products do you use to protect your skin from the cold weather.
What are your top 3 best body moisturizers for winter?

Lush Skincare Picks for Young Skin

Lately I have been blogging a lot about anti ageing creams, lotions & potions, as I find quite easy to relate to these skin concerns (yes, I hit that age where I prefer not to say how old I am!). However, I do have quite a few followers on their prime.

After I wrote about Lush skincare products suitable for oily skin, I received quite a few questions about which products would I recommend for someone on their teens but with normal to combination skin.  As I am not an specialist, I asked Lush to help me with this request.

Keep reading if you want to find out what are Lush's recommendations for younger skin:

Saving Face (£7.50 for 20gr)
If you read my review of Full of Grace, you know how much I rave about it. Full of Grace is suitable for sensitive, dry or mature skin (such as mine), but if you have younger skin, Saving Face would be more suitable. This little bar is full of goodness. It contains active ingredients that helps to balance sebum production, natural moisturisers for your skin and it will enhance the effect of your favourite Lush fresh face mask.

I would recommend to get a Lush tin to keep this product fresh and free of dust or moisture.
Vanishing Cream (€27.35 / £15.25 for 45g
This is a beautiful low fat moisturiser, that’s light and easily absorbed, with minimal oil content. This moisturiser will vanish into the skin, leaving skin soft and supple. As it is so light weighted, it would be suitable too if you have an oilier T-Zone. It contains ingredients such as rose, lavender and witch hazel that helps acne-prone, oily and sensitive skins and T-zone problems.
T Tree Toner Tab (€1.20 / £0.75p each
If you tend to get the occasional spot, it is good to treat your skin with anti bacterial ingredients such as Tea Tree. This toner tab is suitable for toning teenage, troubled and traumatised skin. Use the fizz and steam to get all the benefits of the anti-bacterial essential oil directly onto the troublesome areas. Tea tree oil is an antiseptic and incredibly refreshing and revitalising for the skin.  It’s very cleansing and can help to clear spots and blemishes.  Added to this blend is aloe vera powder, that is excellent for calming irritations and helps to soften and protect the skin.  It works to keep redness under control and gently re-hydrates without generating excess oil, so also works for oilier skin types.

Angels on Bare Skin cleanser (€7.90 / £5.50 for 100g)
An extremely gentle balancing milky cleanser that can be used on all skins but is particularly good for sensitive skin that can’t tolerate soap. Ground almonds are extremely gentle cleansers and slightly polishing, while both lavender and rose absolute help to balance sebum production and act as a tonic for the skin.  Rose is also reputed to reduce redness caused by broken veins. Kaolin will help absorb dead skin cells.

As I haven't tried these products myself, I would love to hear from you if you ever tried any of these Lush products. Please share your experience and tell us how well did it work for you!
